Bakers  SA Limited  was  presented  with  a  Silver Achiever Award at the prestigious 26th annual Logistics Achiever Awards  function  held  at  Monte Casino last Thursday.

Bakers received the award for providing a sustainable, high performance solution and service to one of our valued white goods clients.

In an unexpected, but pleasant surprise, Bakers also received an additional Enviro Award for the reduction of carbon emissions and green initiatives.

Bakers’ Chief Executive, Abdool Tayob was thrilled with the achievement. “We’re filled with a deep sense of pride and joy,” he said. “We’re truly humbled by the recognition, especially since this is our first submission.”

Mr. Tayob also reserved special praise for members of the Bakers family.

“I would like to dedicate this to the team effort at Bakers and to our partnerships with valued clients and suppliers.”

For 26 years, the LAA have acknowledged the evolution and strides made each year in the field of logistics and supply chain management, creating a greater awareness and understanding of the value of effective logistics and supply chain management on a broad scale.

At Bakers, we plan to maintain our foresight, innovation and commitment to customer service by embracing the ideals outlined by the LAA for many years to come.

About the LAA

The LAA was established to recognise professionalism and excellence in the effective application of strategic, tactical, and operational logistics and supply chain management principles, concepts, and practices in Southern Africa.

Driving Supply Chain Sustainability

Bakers received a Silver LAA Award for the implementation of the single-source logistics service provider solution as a result of our case study, “Driving Supply Chain Sustainability.” The reflective case study examines Bakers’ network management, staff management, development and training of previously disadvantaged individuals within the community, and our supply chain transformation.

The study traced Bakers’ progress between 2008 and 2012, graphically representing Bakers’ transformation in the abovementioned areas.
